Adelaide has signed former Collingwood midfielder Tyler Brown as a rookie for this season.

Brown joins the Club on a one-year contract during the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP) after arriving at West Lakes for training this week.

Two spots on Adelaide’s list have become available with Fischer McAsey and Paul Seedsman both being placed on the inactive list for the 2023 season.

Brown, 23, is the son of former Collingwood captain and premiership player Gavin Brown who had a 254-game AFL career.

Tyler played 27 games for the Magpies from 2018 to 2022 when he was delisted after battling illness and injury.

Adelaide General Manager List Management and Strategy Justin Reid said securing a player of Brown’s quality at this stage of pre-season was very pleasing.

“Tyler brings experience from five years in the AFL system and knows what it takes to play at the highest level so we are thrilled to add him to our group,” Reid said.

“He is primarily a midfielder but can also play a variety of roles across the ground which we are excited about.

“He comes from a very good football family, is hard-working and driven to make the most of his opportunity so we look forward to having him at the Club for the 2023 season.”

Brown said he was excited about the opportunity to wear the Crows colours this season.

“I’m very grateful for getting another opportunity to join an AFL club and I’m really excited to be part of a young group that has a lot of promise for the future,” he said.

“I felt welcome here as soon as I walked in the door and I’m looking forward to getting stuck into training with my new teammates.”
