Adelaide forward Taylor Walker sent a text message to Power coach Ken Hinkley following calls from Port Adelaide to change hotels on the Gold Coast.

Hinkley, along with Port Adelaide chairman David Koch, said the cross-town rivals should be staying away from one another.

Walker, however, told Triple M’s Roo & Ditts there wouldn’t be a problem.

“I saw that on the news and thought, ‘I’m going to text Kenny Hinkley’,” Walker said.

“I said, ‘I was looking forward to waking up next to you, Kenny’.

“He told me to get stuffed.

“I know a few of the boys, you compete on the field but I’d imagine it would be fine (staying in the same hotel).”

Training Returns

Two months later, the boys are back on the park with training returning before the season restart.

Legendary AFL commentator Dennis Cometti has called for no premiership or Brownlow Medal to be awarded in 2020 due to the uncertainty of the season.

But Walker rebutted that idea and argued a flag in 2020 could be even more special.

“It’s been a huge challenge to stay mentally switched on and in great physical shape,” Walker said.

“You still play everyone once, it’s not uneven in that aspect.

“Four weeks of finals, I think whoever wins the premiership, and hopefully it’s the Crowies, you take your hat off to them.”

Adelaide returned to training on Monday, albeit with no contact, in groups no larger than eight.

Players have been separated into their lines (defence, midfield, forward) and training is being run mostly by senior Crows.

“It was very weird,” Walker said.

“It was different, but good fun to be back.”
