Adelaide has added two young talents to its ranks and secured the Club's strongest draft hand in years at the 2018 AFL Player Trade period.

As the player exchange period comes to a close, the Crows currently hold picks 8, 13, 16, 21, 72 and 82.

Clubs can continue to trade draft selections until 2.00pm AEDT Friday, November 16.

The Crows obtained highly-rated Sturt forward Shane McAdam and pick No. 13 from Carlton in a three-way trade that accommodated Mitch McGovern’s request to move to the Blues.

Carlton was able to claim McAdam, 23, as one of their mature-aged pre-draft access picks before trading him to the Crows in the deal for McGovern last Wednesday.

The Blues also received a future third-round selection from Adelaide, while Sydney received selections No. 26 and 28 from Carlton as well as No. 40 from the Crows.

McAdam, a medium-sized forward, impressed in his first season in the SANFL kicking 31 goals in 17 games this year.

The West Australian equalled Eagle Nic Naitanui’s running vertical jump record at the 2015 Draft Combine, while also ranking first in the 20m sprint and second in the agility test.

Adelaide also acquired skilful small forward Tyson Stengle from Richmond on Tuesday in exchange for pick 68 in this year’s draft, after receiving pick 68 from Gold Coast earlier that day in a swap for a future fourth-round selection.

The 19-year-old, who was Pick No. 6 in the 2017 Rookie Draft, will return to his home state in 2019 after two years at Punt Road.

Crows General Manager List Management and Strategy Justin Reid said the playing list was in good shape and added the Club was well positioned heading into the draft.

The top-end talent in this year’s draft is strong and we look forward to bringing in some more elite young players,” Reid said.

“As we have said before, we are also open-minded about trading up the draft order if the right opportunity presents in the next couple of weeks.

“Most importantly, we believe in our list and the depth of talent, especially given the development of some of our younger players like Milera and Doedee among others.

“The additions of Shane McAdam, who many in the industry rated a likely top 20 selection in this year’s draft, and Tyson Stengle further strengthens our forward options.”
